Hearing
Ears are for hearing. In "Spirit and in truth" the power of
hearing is a supernatural power. Medical scientists have discovered a few things
to help them understand how e-a-r-s are put together. But when it comes to
precisely defining exactly what it is ears do in the supernatural process
of hearing, conjecture is great, factual understanding is small.
It’s convenient and comfortable to compartmentalize various aspects of the living Soul’s indivisible unity according to the appearance of biological forms. Ear, eye, finger, tongue, nose. Different kinds of atomic skin for particular classes of atomic sensations.
Whatever sensation comes in through whichever kind of skin must travel through the whirling atomic latticework of electromagnetic energy that laces everything together in the earth-universe.
On planet Earth, the everyday atomic disturbance called s-o-u-n-d travels through a highly complex, transparent atmosphere of atomic energy called "air." Every sound carries a certain amount of information. Information carried by a particular sound is meaningful to someone who understands what they are hearing.
Understanding is not an atomic action. Understanding is a spiritual response to action or information that may (or may not) be atomic in nature. Information and understanding are sides of supernatural coinage having great currency in Father-God’s eternal kingdom.
Understanding is a departure from the natural atomic sequence.
Understanding the complex construction of sounds called l-a-n-g-u-a-g-e is a spiritual, supernatural action transpiring within the secret realms of a living Soul.
Understanding what one hears or reads of language produces an experience. Understanding how to lie, murder, commit robbery and become a menace to society is no less a spiritual experience than understanding what Jesus meant when He said, "Ears you have but hearing you have not."
In hearing, it is always a matter of what one chooses. For some, it’s difficult (if not impossible) to understand that the supernatural substance of Faith is a substance "authored and finished" by the Christ of God a.k.a. Jesus of Nazareth.
It’s even more difficult (for some) to understand that the substance of Faith comes into the Soul of an earth-dweller through one’s hearing. To discover precisely how this supernatural action is accomplished goes beyond the sense and sensibility of unregenerate atomic flesh.
Choosing to understand the truth of Faith by Christ in His Spirit is the only way a living Soul can begin to understand what might otherwise seem to be a pointless experience of painful years in a cold and malevolent universe...
