The Waiting
In its body of human flesh or deceased from the Earth, every living Soul waits in the Presence of God.  Some know it, some don't.  Many who know it attempt all kinds of action, attempting to demonstrate their status as a "faithful waiter" in God's Presence.  Religion of all kinds is populated with people who may be more devout toward their own particular brand of "religion" than they are toward God Himself.  God Alone sees the heart and mind of every living Soul.  God Alone knows which Soul stands to serve His purposes and which Soul is a self-server disguised in the self-righteous robes of humanistic religion.

Jesus of Nazareth was, is, and always will be an Incarnation of God.  Jesus of Nazareth told the Pharisees as much in saying, "When you have seen me, you have seen the Father."  This overwhelming manifestation of God-in-the-flesh-on-planet-Earth is incomprehensible by any means of natural inquiry or scientific investigation.  God in His Christ-manifestation as Jesus is a supernatural event in the so-called "natural world."  There is always more to "nature" than meets the eye.

In a further explanation of Himself and His purposes for mankind, the Christ-man offered this tantalizing explanation:  "I will not leave you comfortless.  I will send you the Spirit of truth.  He will lead you into all truth and show you things to come.  I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man comes to the Father except through me."

The natural tendency of any living Soul in ordinary human flesh is to doubt everything Jesus said.  And not only doubt, but often declare outright that any man who says such things about Himself is either a con-artist or insane.  An ordinary man saying such things would be certifiable in any court.  But Jesus of Nazareth is no ordinary man.

Numbers, chapter 23, verse 19:  "God is not a man, that he should lie.  He is not a human, that he should change his mind.  Has he ever spoken and failed to act?  Has he ever promised and not carried it through?"

The appearance of God on planet Earth in the form of an ordinary looking human creature is, to this day, the most shocking and utterly incomprehensible event ever to occur in the turbulent stream of human history.  That's why most of the Earth's human population simply cannot believe it actually happened.  It's too extraordinary.  It's too strange.  It defies all the natural laws of science and common sense.  If Jesus of Nazareth is right, then the whole world must be wrong.

The terse record of the New Testament is filled with descriptions, declarations, commands and promises that the Christ of God, a.k.a. Jesus of Nazareth, laid on the groaning board of human experience.  The world to come has been foretold by Jesus of Nazareth in terms that any child can understand.  It is a world of love and peace, hope and truth, sincerity and gratitude.  But in the good-and-evil drama of this present world, no "sane" person should believe Jesus.  Jesus is nothing more than another sop of mere religion thrown to the masses by cruel leaders of world-culture.  Jesus of Nazareth is another fake in world of fakery and deception.  Things Jesus said and the way this old world is brings the waiting into sharp focus.

Christ's simple edict to "pray in secret" smokes out a lot of public lip-service spouted for the benefit of one's own preening self-righteousness.  In the final analysis, all a Soul can possibly do is resort to the perfect secrecy of their own closet and pray in the name of Jesus that God Himself will inspire the needed prayers and the action-on-the-ground those prayers inspire.  And then the Soul must wait (while always praying in secret) for God's good order and influence to become manifest, "not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit says the LORD of hosts."

It is a strong delusion to believe there is any "natural" way to live in the Presence of God.  Between the cradle and the grave, a living Soul on planet Earth will have many opportunities to begin learning that "God is a Spirit and those that worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth."  Availing oneself of such an opportunity is an undertaking carried on between the living Soul and God Himself in the perfect secrecy of His Spirit a.k.a. "the Spirit of truth."
