Atomic Jesus Supernaturalist

Jews and Pharisees  Ignorance of spiritual things has always been a problem in the human race.  That movie entitled "The Passion of Christ" has certainly made this ignorance obvious.  The bloody scourging of the Christ-man (in the movie and in fact) were carried out by a coalition of Romans and Pharisees.  The Pharisees were a sect of religious fanatics sprung from the Hebrew tribal religion.  The Hebrews were then (and are to this day) a scattered group of Twelve Tribes who, under the leadership of Moses, had received the articles and rituals of the Tabernacle.

For a short time, (long after the death of Moses),  the 12 Hebrew Tribes lived in unity under the rule of  their poet/king, David.  David amassed men and materiel for construction of the first Temple.  All 12 Hebrew Tribes were to worship there.  One of those Tribes was (and is) the Tribe of Judah (now called the Jews). That first Temple was destroyed and rebuilt.  It was in the rebuilt Temple that Jesus of Nazareth held forth and disputed at length with the Pharisees.  Some of the Pharisees were Jews.  Some of the Pharisees were of other nationalities.  The Pharisee-sect was a theocracy.  The Romans ruled in the province called " Judea."  The Pharisees ruled in the town of Jerusalem-in-Judea.

When Jesus accused the Pharisees of spiritual crimes against the Kingdom of God and the people of Jerusalem, the people in Jerusalem understood exactly what Jesus was talking about.  The Pharisees were sticklers for "the letter" of ancient Hebrew law.  But in their fanatic legalism, the Pharisees ignored "the Spirit of the law."  Jesus did not mince words with the scribes and the Pharisees.  The gospel record of the Christ-man's doings and sayings makes it clear that the majority of the people in and around Jerusalem agreed with Jesus and were hoping that Jesus would use His God-given power to bring down the corrupt and oppressive government of the Pharisees.

The majority of those who supported Jesus of Nazareth in Jerusalem were Jews, members of the tribe of Judah.

The people lined the street on the day when Jesus of Nazareth made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem.  They waved palm fronds and shouted great "Hosannas!"  They hoped Jesus would put an end to the oppressive government of the Pharisee-sect.  But that's not what happened.

What happened was the fulfillment of a foretelling given hundreds of years before by Prophet Isaiah.  Chapter 53 of Isaiah's book contains this prophecy.  It is a matter of public record today.  That grim prophecy was fulfilled to the letter.  The Pharisees, not the Jews were the instrument of its fulfillment.  The Death of the Christ-man was as inevitable as His Resurrection.  The reasons for His Death and Resurrection are (also) addressed by Isaiah in the first verse of the sixty-first chapter in his book.

These (and all other) prophesies of God are on the record.  Anyone can read them and decide for themselves.  Jesus of Nazareth had a lot of interesting things to say about the Pharisees and those today  who reflect the Pharisee-philosophy.  If more people made themselves familiar with these important sayings of the Christ-man, there would be a lot less confusion about the difference between the Jews and the Pharisees.

The current controversy surrounding that movie entitled "The Passion of Christ" would be less heated if more people were aware that it wasn't "the Jews" who oversaw the long-prophesied Death of The Christ-man--it was the Pharisees.  The Pharisees were a politico-religious bureaucracy and Jesus of Nazareth challenged their power.  It has always been the nature of an established Bureaucracy to protect itself from any encroachment on its power and/or influence over the people..
