THE FALL OF MAN
All the trouble in the world began developing into what it is today in a certain place at a certain time. The place was The Garden of Eden. The time was the exact moment when the first male and female of the living Soul species partook of the "fruit" from the tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil. Many people today simply do not believe that the suffering, disease, dishonesty, corruption, and death that afflict us all could have such a seemingly innocuous beginning.
The old, old story of how mankind began to die has been trivialized and bowdlerized. Satan is made into a romantic figure. Adam and Eve are treated as naughty children. The monstrous tragedy of the event itself is downplayed. The result is unbelief. Millions and millions of people have lived and died without ever coming to grips with the real reason for our presently painful predicament. This page will be an ongoing assembly of information that will, hopefully, help people understand.
Here's hoping that the Spirit of God in your Soul gives you enlightenment and makes peace!
Genesis Chapter 3
@ Blue Letter Bible
Matthew Henry was trained as a lawyer but devoted his career and his life to ministry in the Presbyterian denomination. In his Exposition of the Old and New Testaments Matthew Henry explains mystical, spiritual, supernatural things of God in the precise, old-fashioned language of a skilled lawyer presenting his case honestly and without equivocation.
Mr. Henry's commentary on the 3rd Chapter of Genesis (connected to the link given above) is the story of Paradise Lost; a sad and grievous accounting of how corruption and death of all mankind began. Mr. Henry's exposition of mankind's fall from innocence speaks directly to the astonishing (even bizarre) levels of human corruption that bemuse so many in the 21st century.
Along with Matthew Henry's Exposition of the Old and New Testaments the programmers at Blue Letter Bible are making many other great works of Christian literature available. Not so long ago, gaining access to the information available @ Blue Letter Bible was difficult and time-consuming. Now, millions of people all over the world can read and study from the comfort of home. Men and women of goodwill the world-over are encouraged and strengthened by the work of the programmers @ http://www.blueletterbible.org/ Godspeed to all!
Staples Lewis (C.S.Lewis)
"THE ABOLITION OF MAN"
The Abolition of Man is a scholarly work written by a working scholar. C.S. Lewis was in the prime of his working life when he published this book. It is a unrelenting deconstruction of Progressive Education. Progressive Education was promoted and popularized by John Dewey and The New School. Progressive Education has produced the confused and troubled society that now constitutes Western Civilization. John Dewey's Progressive Education teaches in many subtle ways that there is no such thing as absolute truth. C.S. Lewis saw Progressive Education for exactly what it is: a system of knowledge based on a sham-philosophy that attempts to make men as gods unto themselves doing that which is right in their own eyes. The whirlwind of today's troubled world began with the dust-devil of John Dewey and Progressive Education.
"THE ABOLITION OF MAN" deconstructs the specious logic used to prop up the philosophy of Progressive Education. Here is a sample: If justice is a superstition, then so is my duty to my country or my race. If the pursuit of scientific knowledge is a real value, then so is conjugal fidelity. The rebellion of new ideologies against the Tao is a rebellion of the branches against the tree: if the rebels could succeed they would find that they had destroyed themselves. The human mind has no more power of inventing a new value than of imagining a new primary colour, or, indeed, of creating a new sun and a new sky for it to move in.
